Supreme Court won't hear Rumpke landfill case

The Ohio Supreme Court has refused to hear Colerain Township's appeal of a case involving the Rumpke landfill.
The ruling effectively upholds two lower court rulings that the landfill is a public utility exempt from township zoning laws.
Attorney Joe Trauth, who represented Rumpke Consolidated Cos., said the ruling provides 30 years of additional capacity for a landfill that otherwise would be 10 to 15 years from the end of its useful life. It's also the first time that a sanitary landfill in Ohio has been declared a public...
