Prescription drug use, doctor visits declining in Cincy, nation

The economy and rising health care costs are pushing people to spend less on prescription drugs and go to the doctor less often, according to a new report from the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics.
Overall, spending on prescription medicines in the U.S. in 2010 increased by 2.3 percent to $307 billion, down from the 5.1 percent in spending growth in 2009.
The number of visits to doctors? offices declined by 4.2 percent in 2010.
